Istria, Croatia
As I am glancing through my study books on 19th century nationalism, I am already imagining myself in Croatia. I get to travel again! In 2 days I’ll be in Istria, a region in Croatia where I will be staying till Friday.
Until then things will be quite stressful; work, study, groceries, making some phonecalls, exercising, packing my bags…. It’ll be a small miracle if I manage to finish at all. But that can’t spoil the fun, I’m going to Istria! And no, I’m not just going to Istria: I’m there on invitation of the Istrian Ministry of Tourisme. Through www.travelblog.org I met Barry Napier who personally invited me.
20-24 of April I will be guided around the beautiful region together with 5 other travel bloggers. I really look forward to it, especially after seeing all the amazing pictures and stories Barry sent me. It still feels a bit strange though; me… as a travel blogger… to Croatia. I didn’t even know it was possible to do such a thing! Still, it sounds like a great opportunity; a 5 day visit to the lovely Istria… with its good weather (the sun finally broke through last week allowing me, for the first time in 6 months, to walk outside without a jacket) and delicious cuisine, guided by people who are familiar with the region. Completely different from what I’m used to travel wise (and I mean this in the most positive sense). I’m excited!
